Cassette Packaging Descriptions

The customary way to package a cassette is in a plastic Norelco box with an inserted folded card (a J-Card) that contains the album artwork and liner notes. Cassette shells come in a variety of colors. There are also a few options for the colors of Norelco boxes.

National Audio prints J-Cards in three configurations: 3-Panel, 4-Panel, and 5-Panel. All can be printed full bleed both sides on heavy stock. We have also re-introduced the O-Card, the common packaging for a “Cassingle.” To make short runs possible, they are printed one-sided on a heavy card stock.

O-Card: A full-wrap sleeve, open on the ends and shrink-wrapped after the tape is inserted. They are ideal for Cassette Singles.

3-Panel J-Cards: Include the front panel, spine and flap. In a clear Norelco box all of the exterior is visible through the box. The interior side is usually used for lyrics and credits.

4-Panel J-Cards: Have an additional panel that folds inside as well as the front panel, spine and flap. It gives more space for band photos and lyrics.

5-Panel J-Cards: Includes 2 panels that roll-fold inside the front panel.  This gives the most area for design and liner notes.
